I was sittin’ on my front porch makin’ up a bluegrass song
I take my slug I pass the jug I fiddle all night long
She hit me in the head with a fryin’ pan
She’d been workin’ all night long
She was bringin’ home the bacon on her way to her second job
She knocked me off my rocker and right on down the stairs
This poor fiddle and me went flyin’ right out in mid-air
Cuz I was sittin’ on my front porch makin’ up a bluegrass song
I take my slug I pass the jug I fiddle all night long (like this)
She was the purtiest gurl in Tennessee when I first took her on
I didn’t know she had twelve kids till I got her home
And now she’s got religion she wants to change my tune
Her Daddy’s got a shotgun said the wedding starts at noon
Spoken
(Oh my.. not this time.. unh-uh .. I gots my on tune.. and it goes like this…)
We wake up every mornin’ and again in the afternoon
Why we’ll wake up ‘bout any ol’ time someone’s servin’ food
And we ain’t done no chores since 1984
When it gets stinkin’ high to heaven
We’ll come pick on your porch next door!
And we’ll be sittin’ on your front porch makin’ up a bluegrass song
We take our slugs we pass the jug we fiddle all night long.. Ahh..hah!

Song From The Wellspring
©2009 Martin Gibson
A soul takes flight before the dawn
A healing spirit lies within the song
My reason to come to the well
My reason makes it clear
As I breathe the morning air
I’ll be waiting for you here
Inside your soul, there lies the river
Above the clouds, there is a clear cool stream
A distant calling, a high and lonesome sound
Songs from the Wellspring
Comes like whispers in my dreams
Songs from the Wellspring
Comes like whispers in my dreams
Break
Now, let’s all draw up the song
A toast to satisfy our thirsting souls
Our reason to come near the well
If our reasons are sincere
And our understandings clear
We’ll all be standing there
In my dreams I’m flyin’, up the holler on the breeze
Until the whirlwind, takes me to my knees
When I land back in my room I hear the call
Songs from the Wellspring
Comes like whispers in my dreams
Songs from the Wellspring
Comes like whispers in my dreams

When my wife needs something’ from the store I volunteer and that’s for sure
I tell her honey stay behind take a bath drink some wine
I’ll be back in no time
Well I’ll get the milk and the butter and the bread just lay down in that tub girl go rest your head
From this labor I will save ya kick back and read the paper
I’ll be Back in No time
1st Chorus
Cuz when I walk in through those doors I know I’ll find and that’s for sure
The prettiest girls with their men at home and there I stand all alone
I make the girls smile when I walk through the isles and they make me sigh as I walk by
I just like standin’ in line and makin’ some time
And I’ll be back in no time
2nd Chorus
Cuz when he walks in through those doors he knows he’ll find and that’s for sure
The prettiest girls with their men at home and there he stands all alone
He makes the girls smile when he walks through the isles and he makes them sigh as he walks by
He just likes standin’ in line and makin’ some time
And he’ll be back in no time
Sorry I was late but I had a flat tire I hit all the red lights and the car caught fire
And not just that I forgot the grocery sacks so
I’ll be back in no time 1st Chorus

My Friend Gypsy he wants to be a cowboy someday
Ride through the desert, as the sun is falling to the purple haze at twilight
My Friend Gypsy he lives in a daydream all day
Waits for the time to come so he can hit the trail and sing the songs that he’ll make up on the way
Chorus
Goodbye Gypsy I hope to see you again someday
We’ll Drink some beer and dance with the girls that you left behind
Or if I had a pony I’d be on the trail behind you
Catchin’ up to you in Indian style
But Gypsy remember I’m catchin’ up to you in my mind
Woh-oh!
My Friend Gypsy he bought himself a horse you see
But before he left he waved good-bye said he’s gonna’ name his horse after me
My Friend Gypsy he lives in a daydream all day
Chorus
Well I’m catchin’ up to you.. Well I’m catchin’ up to you in my mind
Woh-oh-oh

The Last Cowboy Waltz

The Last Cowboy stood at the end of the highway
His poor horse shivered and shook from the cold
From his ancient blue eyes, the tears start a wellin’
Sweet memories of the country and the land he did ride
The Last Cowboy came to the heart of this city
His poor old horse was too tired to ride
Tall buildings and streetlights and big city highways
Are the bones of old ranches and the good days gone by
The Last Cowboy found some children at a playground
His poor old horse they wanted to ride
So he showed them his rope tricks and they all had a fine time
Till the cops came and got him and his horse up and died
Chorus
Ropin’ and a wranglin’ cowpunchin’ and a brandin’
Was the only life that old cowboy knows
Ridin’ that range through the cactus and the sage
Or trackin’ strays through the high country snow
Longhorns and Ranchin’ cattle drives and saddle trampin’
Come a ty-yi-yippie yi-yippie-yi-yo ayodeleee
Now the Last cowboy stares out his nursing home window
His poor old wheelchair, it’ steel and rubber that rolls
From his ancient Blue eyes the tears start a wellin’
Sweet memories of the country and the land he did….

Tragedy

It was a tragedy of the first degree
When that woman first walked up to me
Why did I get out of bed I shouldn’t never of said
That I love you Yes I love you
Well it’s a mystery to me what she wanted with me
She was a girl with such a cold heart
Like a commie regime she entered my dreams
And took me over She took me over
Chorus
Well I’m in agony from the irony
Of the way things turned out to be
Don’t try for the heart of a girl who’s too smart
Or you’ll put your life in jeopardy
Yes you will uh huh Yes you will mmm hmm Yes you will..
Well it’s a catastrophe what happened to me
The day she told me to walk out that door
It oughta be a felony to be to free
With good lovin’ With good lovin’
Chorus
It’s a Tragedy It’s a Catastrophe Its’ a Mystery

Lost Lovers Road

Those broken hearts like mine. Those broken hearts like mine.
I knew it was over, when we talked last night.
The things you didn’t say, I knew they were right.
But it’s okay I understand, Life takes many roads.
But this broken heart of mine won’t let you go.
I am for the ocean; toss my heart out on the sea,
The tide will make my journey, I’ll forget about everything.
I’ll go on down to Memphis. I’m off to New Orleans
‘Cause this broken heart of mine, lost everything
Chorus
Lost Lovers are traveling the loneliest of roads
I can see them walking, ten thousand souls or more
I can hear them weeping, they weren’t meant to be alone.
And I can see them dreaming of what they had before.
It’s been that way forever, and forever has its end.
Friends can be lovers but lovers can’t be friends
No more lies, you’ve got your life, I guess I’ll go find mine.
Because a broken heart like mine, never cries
I don’t no if I’m gonna tell you, I won’t see you anymore
I don’t know if anyone’s’ told you, I‘m not answering my door.
I guess I’ll go down to them, now I’m just like them...
For this broken heart of mine, won’t ever mend.
Chorus
Those broken hearts like mine.
Those broken hearts like mine. Never cry.

On Saturday night
When my friends all come round’
We go out a drinkin’
In a honky-tonk town
We’ll get Buck on the jukebox
And we’ll spin the girls round’
Then a Rocky Mountain Woman
She’ll be comin’ around
Chorus
Rocky Mountain Woman
Come take me home
This bar here’s a closing’
And my friends have all gone
But I want one more whiskey
And to hear one more song
Rocky Mountain Woman
She’ll be comin’ along (‘bout any time now)
Belly up to the bar boys
And dream of the farm
That you’re drinkin’ away every night
Honky-tonkin it ain’t livin’
It ain’t no good reason for forgetting’
How to come home before daylight
Chorus
Rocky Mountain Woman where have you gone?
Rocky Mountain Woman well she’s been gone too long

Tornadoes are comin’ hide your children safe
Get below the floor babe gonna’ blow your house away
And where you gonna’ stay when your house gets blown away
Warheads are comin’ it’s gonna’ come down hard
Get below the floor babe it’ll land in your backyard
And where you gonna’ stay when your country’s blown away
Chorus
You better check this out
We really have no doubt
That the world is nearly over
And my friends can’t get sober
You better look around
Think like underground
And we hope that you have found
A better way
Tears they are a comin’ woes are on mankind
Get below the covers babe in the end you will be mine
And where you gonna’ stay till I get there on that day
Tribulation is coming’ the world it will be shaken
Say goodbye to Mother Earth send your loved ones letters
And where you gonna’ stay when your mind is blown away
Chorus
A better way… A better way…. Klick Kaboom!
